Awesome book...revealing the emotional loss of those who had to give up a child. I was given up and I was able to feel Fran's pain. I was lucky to meet my birth family too....hard to capture the emotions. You did just that!

Beautifully and sensitively written story of a young woman faced with a painful choice and how she deals with it. This is an important piece of literature that speaks to the issues of honesty, adoption, reunion. self discovery and finally healing.
I could not put this book down. Read it from cover to cover in one day. Totally engaging account of loss and love. Breaking the taboos that bind us in pain and fear are explored in detail. A tale from the 60s I can relate to.
I am also a first mother from the same era, and Fran is the person responsible for me finding my son. Her story is very different from mine, but in so many ways it's the same -- it brought back so many of the same feelings. Those were different times, and Fran illustrates perfectly what it was like. She writes beautifully, and it was an honor to share her journey with her.
